Last Game....

Linkopings won the game over the Blues and Lemiuex_Polamalu lost the prediction. Linko killed off one penalty, won time of possession but lost face-offs. Amazing was the winning Goalie over llBringThePainll. Nova had 2 goals and an assist. Ninja 1g 1a 2pts, VanillaIce905 1g 2a 3pts, g4threepwood and pgtips were the defenders.

L_P Is 4-7 in predictions

Thursday's GOTN

Tretiak Conference match up

#4 Cologne Kolner Hale
at
#5 Vaxjo Lakers

These two teams face off in a battle for 4th in Tretiak Conference. Only 12 points separate 8th place, where the lonely Pinguine's reside with HPK, and 2nd place Linkoping. So anything can happen in the Tretiak Conference. It seems Red Bull Munchen is running away with first place having a 9 point lead over Linkopings. Cologne Kolner Hale is only three points behind Modo (3rd) and only four points behind second place, so they have a lot to pay for. 7 points separate 4th place from 5th and 6th place so Vaxjo needs these points desperately. Vaxjo, however, just got destroyed by a combined score of 16-4 the last two games. Meanwhile Cologne split last nights games, winning a close one over the Espoo Blues.

Vaxjo owner Do_the_evolution and captain oriolesrule44 have their hands full, but are hopeful to get back to winning. Lakers Stevo and Mudd_Flapps have skill but are they playing good enough as a team to win? They recently acquired SinWin, and he might stabilize the defensive core although he was asked to play some net. oriolerules44 Looks like their only good option at Goalie with JonFitzsimons on IR. Orielrules, a bright spot on the team with 2.56 Goals Against Average, said the team is remaining positive and will be fighting to the end.

For Kolner Haie, Scoutz15 has been playing most games in net and is doing well, currently ranked fourth overall in the league. XxMadmax94xX captain of Haie is having a good season with 44 points ans is team mate Hare-Krishna , who has nearly 2.8 ppg. The team though is struggling somewhat defensively as those players are minus in the plus minus column as well is starting defense and team owner Jsilvers, -8  with 18 games played. They paid 2.5 million for M_u_r_p_h_y_87  and he may be their best defensive player and he has is +2. The defensive plus minus leader is schroyer69 (+31). Cologne has been stinking up the ice when they play against the Lakers, going 1-3-1 in the match-ups. I expect it to be 1-4-1 after tonight as Mudd_Flapps will be dancing circles around the angry Cologne players.

Lakers pull off the upset 5-3

Last Game recap....
In the special home and home series, L_P lost most of the predictions so we will count that as one loss.
L_P is 4-6 in predictions on the year.

Wednesday GOTN

Espoo Blues Kharlamov Conference
vs
Linkopings Linkopings HV Tretiak Conference

Owner Nova, Captain Amazing, Ninja, Westside and G4thrreepwood host Raz-orr, Acefive, Jeff0012 tonight in what makes an epic match-up. Last time these two teams met it was a 5-4 overtime win for the Linkopings. Linkopings won time of attack that game and stopped five of six Espoo power plays and the Owner of Linkopings Nova had a hat trick in that game.  jeiel9876  plays most games in net for Linkopings. Blues owner Raz-orr team will hope to have a better performance in this game.  Espoo Blues have three goalies playing with BringThePain going 3-0 so far this season. The Blues have been hot going 7-2-1 the last ten games while the Linkopings are sliding at 4-6-0 the last ten.

Look for this trend to continue as the Blues will dominate the face-off circle and win a close game.

Blues win 4-3

Last game

Pinguini's won the prediction 5-3. Krefeld dominated time on attack in the game. PAVELBURE had a hat trick and assist, EbonyFetish had a goal and an assist, Reject_Reaperz had a goal and three assists. Arrowstorm had one hit on D and Illuminati has two assist as D. PNCPark2k1 was the winning goalie over  bobbatta of TPS.

Monday's GOTN

Tonight is a very special edition of GOTN as tonight is the divisional home and home. Here are some insight on the match ups this evening.

Kharlamov Conference

#4 Mladá Boleslav Bruslařský Klub vs #2 Karlstad Farjestad BK

MBB Club is 8-1-1 in the last 10 games, Karlstad is ahead of them in the standings but 5-3-2  the last 10 games. These two teams are fourth and fifth in Goals for and both good in goals allowed with Karlstad having a slight edge.

DaltonTheGinger7 has a good team this year which has league veteran King from the Dot. Sobo is solid but they lack depth on defense. Get On Ur Knees is their top defense.. With Goalie Dr Swagger on IR they could be in trouble. I expect this to be closer than the first to matches when Karl killed them 13-0 in both games.

Prediction DaltonTheGinger7 says something stupid , they split the games 1-1

#8 Turku Turun Palloseura vs #5 Tampereen Ilves

Tampereen is 3-7-0 in their last ten, in a bit of a slide but they are facing team sliding even worse in Turku Turun who is 2-7-1 their last ten and worst in the league defensively.

The previous match-ups were split 4-1 Ilves win the first match and 6-3 TTP win the second match. Palloseura managed to beat Karlstad last week and they are still riding that victory. Still I look for Owner IIx-BudZ-xII  to get the Ilves back to their winning ways.

The force is with Chewbacca and the Ilves go 2-0 tonight

#6 Leksands Idrottsförening vs #3 Teschen Silesia HC Oceláři Třinec

Teschen is 9-0-1 the last ten games. Leksands is 2-7-1 the last ten. The two teams are 1-1 in their season series so far with each game decided in overtime.

Teschen's Nifttee is third in the league in points and 2nd ppg. Leksands can look at their two overtime games and hope to pull off an upset. Its been a long time since that opening night victory. Idrottsforening has to start winning now as they are 13 points out of the playoff spot, its still early enough for them to catch up.

Prediction Nifftee scores and Teschen Silesia wins both.

#7 Geneva Geneve-Servette HC vs #1 Espoo Blues

The Blues won both games in the series so far vs Geneva Geneva, which is no surprise as everyone is beating Geneva these days. Geneva is 3-6-1 the last ten games, Espoo is 8-0-2.

Geneva is allowing goals by the dozen and their 71 goals allowed is only one better than the leagues worst. They don't seem to have a LD on the roster that can help out Captain Dynasty1989 RD, and the goalie lAl_CapTaiN_lAl  isn’t benefiting with his 4-9 record. lAl_CapTaiN_lAl  3.39 GAA Is admirable given the circumstances.  With Class_Act on one Side and ChiTownMenace on the other it looks more like a scene from Saturday Night Fever with the dancing. Don't expect the Center or Defenseman to see much action. Bright spot the team is VG rookie XzmanX3000 who , along with Class_Act is averaging 2.50 ppg. Maybe the rookie and class act can turn things around. Acefive and jeff0012 will be tough for Geneva, but look for them to play great team Defense tonight and split the series.

Prediction ChiTownMenace starts rookie XzmanX3000 and Class_act and together they split the series 1-1.

Tretiak Conference

#3 Örnsköldsvik MODO Hockey vs  #2 Linköpings Linköpings HC

Modo and Linköpings are 1-1 head to head this season, with each game decided by one goal and the second going to overtime. Each team had five power plays in the second game but neither scored. They split both face-offs and time on attack in each series. Modo has been the better team defensively so far but Linko is one point ahead in the standings. Modo also has an edge in goals scored. Modo also has the edge on face-offs, but who knows how that will change with center DeadlyKush going on IR this week. ScrapingUrIce is also a center and won the gotn last week. Linko has a host of familiar faces g4theepwood, RiseoftheNinja, NOCA to name a few, but Modo counters with Captain Daddy Dankchank and #trashsquad. Should be a tight series.

I predict GoodFella146  is angry but Rise of the Ninja and Thy-great GIINO shake hands after the games are split tonight 1-1.

#5 Vaxjo Lakers vs #1 Munich EHC Red Bull Munchen

LINDE and Isles_Tavares_91 take their first place team to play vs Cody and do-the-evolution tonight in what should be a tight match-up . Vaxjo lost the first two match-ups and I expect they will lose both again tonight.  Vaxjo is 3-6-1 the last ten games and heading in the wrong direction. Meanwhile Red Bull is 9-01 and clicking on all cylinders.

The Bulls offense is number one in their conference as is their defense. Vaxjo recently acquired SinWin to help defensively, but he wont be able to bail out a thin defensive corpse. GreekElite and Max_Beast_MAx, who leads the league in points-per game, will prove to be too much for the Lakers.

Munich Munches on the Lakers carpets and wins both.

#7 Hämeenlinna Pallokerho vs #6 Krefeld Pinguine

Pallokerho has won both games in the series although Krefeld won time on attack in each game. HPK though has been on a bit of a slide, going 3-6-1 the last ten games. The Pinguini's after a slow start have been steadily playing better and are 5-4-1 the last ten games.

These two teams are approximately equal in goals for and goals against. HPK is third in the league at winning face-offs. HPK recently picked up lx-Domi_l16l-xl and CHAMP—514, while KEV picked up PAVELBURE,and EbonyFetish so they have a slightly different look than when they last matched up. Both games will be very close but think Krefelds Reject_Reaperz and BURE will prove too much for HPK to handle.

Prediction Lemieux_Polamalu stays on the bench and Pinguini's win both.

#8 Hamburg Freezers vs #4 Cologne Kölner Haie

Hamburg has been heating up and coming out of the cooler going 5-3-2 the last 10 games. Cologne hasn’t been smelling so sweet as of late and the polar opposite of the Freezers going 3-5-2 the last 10 games. They have each allowed 66 and 65 goals  making them some of the worst defensive teams in the league.

In a division where only 8 points separate last place and 2nd place, anything can happen in this young season. Hamburg has to step it up on both ends of the ice. Their offense is ranked below average and the defense is third worst in the league. Hamburg improved the goalie situation bringing in prophet2124 but they are still weak at defense. ON the other side, Cologne hale is currently third worst defensively and their offense is average 3 points per game which has carried them to fourth place in the West. Hale can find themselves in last place in a hurry if Freezers can heat up. Cologne Kolner Hale fried the burgers both games of the series so far, with game two going to overtime 3-2, but the Freezers are heating up 2-1-1 the last four games.

Prediction prophet2124 plays amazing in net, Hamburg wins both and a member of Cologne rage quits.

….last game, Thursday game 2
Last game Team MODO won my prediction, beating HPK 4-1, bit not covering the score (which was a joke anyway). HPK won time of possession and had three power pays but failed to score. For Modo ScrapingUrIce was center and had 2 goals and an assist, Giino and Come_at_me had four points at wing. Atreyal and Yucko were on D, Beantown was the winning goalie over High_Voltage.

Sundays GOTN
Krefeld Pinguini 5-10-1 vs Turku Turn Palloseura  3-11-2

The two teams that are last place in each conference match up in game two tonight. We will see if either of these teams will either begin to climb out of the basement towards glory or they will sink even further towards Skype fights and then PHL obscurity. Each team has hope to turn their season around. Each team is struggling offensively and TPS has been the worst defensive team in the league so far. Palloseura has the worst differential in the league (-38) and while the Pinguini's have been better defensively they still have third worst differential in the league (-23).

TPS, who is  the most successful team in real life SM-liiga history is winless on the road so far.  Some games have been close though. They have two overtime losses and their two wins came recently, last week. so there is hope in Finland that TPS can turn things. BBBBRRRRAAAASSSS is the Owner and currently no captain listed on the roster. Bobbatta and quicksilver are splitting time in net, but Quicksilver is stealing the starting job by winning and having a better goals against average. This team has some good players on the roster, u_1_2_B_me_  and Flyersap have skill but they really need jdheagle (IR)  to come off injured reserved to stand a chance to make a playoff run or they will start making summer plans early.

Krefeld, plays in North-Rhine-Westphalia, Germany at the König Palast. Founded first in 1936 they have won the German championship in 1952 and 2003. Pinguini's might be the leagues biggest disappointment, although its still only two weeks into the season. ReJecTz_ReaPeRz and PNCPark have been tops in the NHL but now find themselves last place in the KHL's Eastern Conference. They started out last week hot, going 3-1 the first four games last week but then in a flurry of penalties and in games where they lost time of possession, they ended the week 0-4. They brought in an influx of talent last week and new players like Bure hope to help the struggling offense. Bure is leading the team with 2 points per game. They have the talent like Captain Re-ject_Reaperz but need the other guys like Bubba67 and Arrowstorm, Ebony or Crazy Cam need to step up their scoring  as well. GLOVE plays most of the games at RD and has been solid on the back end. LD right now is being played by committee, but could be helpful if ILLUMINATI or the newly acquired Elite_76 or Lemieux_Polamalu, who they traded for toslick, can give them some consistency and improve their defense.

Their is plenty of time in the season, too early too panic, but TPS is a whopping 13 points out of the 4th spot already. Fourth spot would be playoffs, in the West. They need to start their winning now. Pinguini's are 8 points out of third place in what is a tighter eastern conference and could get back in the mix in a hurry, with some wins. Both teams are struggling to score goal and each are tied for 15th worst offense with only Leksands Idrottsförening behind. Defensively Palloresu has been the worst in the league. The Pinguini's are around the middle of the pack on the back end. TPS averages 45% face-offs and the Pinguinis are 51% in the face-off circle. Who will be king of the dot tonight as the worst in the east square off versus the worst in the west?

Krefield wins 3-2 in overtime.
L_P 3-5 in predictions.

POWER RANKINGS

Kharlamov Conference
Written by: oriolerules44

1. Espoo Blues (13-2-1)
This team run By Raz-Orr is on a roll 9-0-1 in their last 10 games and are currently in 1st place. Acefive and Jeff run the offense. This team has showed no signs of stopping. Newly aquired goalie llBringThePainll has adapted very well in net to his new teammates posting 3 wins ( 2 this week and 1 last week) posting up very good numbers with a 1.67 Gaa and .833 sv%. Defence man and owner Raz-Orr is 2nd the league in +\-. Jeff and Acefive have really been tearing through the league. This week Jeff and Acefive picked up 33 points in 8 games 4.13 ppg. the724sniper seems to have locked down left wing 15 points in 5 games. This team shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

2. Teschen Silesia HC Oceláři Třinec (11-3-2)
This team run by Niftee is really starting to take off they went 7-1-2 this week and that has them in 3rd in their conference. Niftee and Xilo_Atomik have been on fire especially in this week where they picked up 26 points in 8 gp. JCEB85 had a very good week in net. He went 6-0 2.17 gaa and a .806sv% this team has started to really show their true potential. They are going to be a tough team to play against.

3. Karlstad Farjestad BK 11-3-2
This is a team who had a bad week from what week 1 brought to them. They went 4-3-1.
JEWOFCANADA had 22 points in 8 games for a 2.75 ppg. Mesmerize-_- got 17 points in 6 games this week. They had no issues with llves beating them 6-2 but lost to TPS 3-2 and 6-4 at the very beginning of the week against KEC. The lost to the red bulls as well and to Espoo however they picked up a point vs Espoo only losing in OT.  Biglamb420 had a rough week not posting up too good of numbers I expect him to bounce back in week 3. Expect this team to have a better week 3 as they have a lot of skill as seen in week one.

4. Mladá Boleslav Bruslařský Klub (9-4-3)
This is a team who is led by Daltontheginger7. This team seems to have found a groove after a disappointing week 1 for them. Goaltender Xx1DR_SWAGGER1xX had a Very good week posting a 2.20 gaa and .783 sv% in 8 games as well as picking up 6 wins. The team leader in points is coorsi88 33 points in 14 games.  Get_on_ur_knees has 18 points in 10 games but this week he had 14 points and a +\- rating of + 10 playing all 8 games. I expect this team will be a very tough opponent for anybody and will be top 4 in their conference all season long.

5. Tampereen Ilves (9-7-0)
Played a lot of very close games this week. Loss 1-0 in 1st game of the week. They didn't fall in their favour they were 2-1 in the first 3 games of the week before losing the next 5. llves run by owner IIx-BudZ-xII. ll_11-Gallagher got 14 points in 6 games and led the team offensively. The team had a rough week but expect them to be stronger next week.

6. Geneva Geneve-Servette HC (4-11-1)
Team is led by ChiTownMenace. They didn't start the week good but ended it well. Geneva made a big trade aquiring Class_Act_27 flo_ridaboy23 and lAl_CapTaiN_lAl. Since that trade they are 2-2 scoring 15 goals and giving up 13 but overall in the week they had a record of 3-4-1. ChiTownMenace led in offence 20 points in 8 games. Goalie lAl_CapTaiN_lAl came in and went 2-2 in 4 starts. Cap had a save % of .772 and a gaa of 3.25. I expect this team to start doing a lot better after the trade and I expect that's not going to be the last trade that Geneva makes

7. Leksands Idrottsförening  (4-11-1)
Leksands is run by Chaskin12. They showed some good games and they had some close losses.STICKYFINGERS604 led the team in points with 10 in 4 games. Leksands beat Linkopings 3-2 in their best win of the week. They were only blown out in 1 game this week apart from that they lost all close 1 or 2 goal games. Scoring was low in almost all games as Leksands did not score many goals only 17 gf in 8 games. They gave up 30 goals in 8 games.

8.Turku Turun Palloseura (3-11-2)
Turku improved a bit this week with a huge 3-2 win over Karlstad. Team is run by
BBBBRRRRAAAASSSS. The team was led point wise on offence by u_1_2_B_me_ picking up 9 goals and 4 assists in 6 games. The team won 2 games this week after a brutal week 1 where they only won 1. They are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games which isn't going to lead them to the post season. Expect to see some deals to help this team out.

Tretiak Conference
Written by: Mesmerize-_-

1. Munich EHC Red Bull Munchen (14-2-0)
Red Bull has a flawless week going 8-0-0, they have a few close games during the week 1-0 win against Tampereen and another 1-0 win against Krefeld. Red Bull has been rolling lately, you could say they are the best team in the league right now. Isles_Tavares_91 has another good week putting up points from the blueline 8gp 2g 15a 17pts, he is the current point leader for all Dmen. Max_Beast_Max who has been a surprise player this season for Red Bull has another good week with only 5 games played he gets 11g 15a 26pts, then beside him is GreekElite with 7gp 9g 11a 20pts. Red Bull signed French goalie M_a_Bster this week, he went 4-0 with a 1.00 GAA .879%. Those are good goalie number, this team is one of the better teams defensively, keep in mind he was facing under 10 shots a game, from my experience playing this team they are pretty good. I feel they were the only team that has legit outplayed my team this season. Red Bull is going to keep on rolling into the playoffs.

2.  Linkopings HC (10-5-1)
Linkopings have somewhat of a letdown week going 4-4 but remain in the 2nd spot, they lost 4 straight then pulled out 2 wins to end the week which is a good thing for them going into next week, Nova1739 was the top point guy this week for Linkopings with 8gp 10g 9a 19pts, right behind him on the team is RiseOfTheNinja 8gp 7g 10a 17pts, I think the weak point on this team is goalie, neither one of the goalies on the team put up even average tender numbers. They have to improve if they want to have a better week, they start next week off against the red hott Munich Red Bulls, will they be able to run with the bulls or will they just get ran over?

3. Ornskoldsvik MODO Hockey (9-7-0)
MODO goes 5-3-0 this week, having to pull out 3 OT wins to save what might have turned into a bad week for MODO. The top offensive player for MODO this week is once again l-Gino71-l 8gp 11g 11a 22pts, Im sure XSBucks is thinking he shouldnt have traded this guy to MODO before the season started. MODO had a few different goalies play this week with Beantwn_Beatdwn and T-man, Alonzi401 filled in as an ECU goalie for 2 games he went 2-0 winning both games in OT 3-2 vs Hamburg and 3-2 vs Krefeld. Maybe this Alonzi401 guy is worth a pickup for some team?

4. Cologne Kolner Haie (8-6-2)
Kolner goes 3-4-1 this week, not a very good week from the first week of the season, there seems to be a lack of defense on this team from teams putting up a lot of goals on them. The top point guy for Kolner was XxMadMax94xX 6gp 7g 10a 17pts, The goalie numbers were bad for both Scoutz15 and Chigiribow, they need to improve their game or the defense needs to improve, those type of numbers dont get you anywhere. They ended the week scoring only 2 goals in 2 games and giving up 10, are the Kolner sharks headed back into the far depths of he ocean? only time will tell which direction this team is going.

5. Vaxjo Lakers (7-8-1)
Vaxjo goes 3-5-0 this week and im a surprising move trade Class_Act_27 for Mudd_Flaps, there were other people involved in the trade but i dont really think anyone cares. Mudd_Flaps was the top offensive guy on this team 8gp 7g 10a 17pts, im not sure how much of that was done on his previous team or with the Lakers. This team isnt looking to strong this passed 2 weeks, they are hoping Mudd_Flaps can bring that much needed offensive presence to this team. He wont be able to do it himself, hopefully they can find a line that meshes well together before its to late.

6. Hameenlinna Pallokerho (6-9-1)
HPK goes 2-5-1 this week, having a worse week than the last. lx-Domi_l16l_lx was the guy with the most points on HPK this week 4gp  4g 9a 13pts, there is still a lack of offense on this team for a 2nd week in a row. Looking at the games they have a lot of games where they only score 1-2 goals. In some cases that might be enough to win, not when you are giving up 4+ goals a game, i dont think whats on this roster right now is good enough to win games consistently, XSBucks will have to try to make some more moves if he wants to get into the post-season.

7. Hamburg Freezers (5-9-2)
The Freezers go 4-3-1, which is a big improvement from only getting 1 win last week. Rich2k8 was the highlight on offense for them 8gp 7g 7a 14pts, not sure where snipe_snipe_420 is, looks like he didnt play this week, or just didnt do to well because i cant find him anywhere in the weekly stats. I think the Freezers need to find a better goalie and a good D partner for Foreign to play with. This team doesnt look horrible on paper, they just seem to be struggling early on in the season.

8. Krefeld Pinguine (5-10-1)
Krefeld went 3-4-1 this week, which isnt that much of an improvement from last week, Krefeld pretty much went and signed a whole new team in bidding from players who signed up Crazy_Cam98, EbonyFetishz dumbest name i have ever seen lol, PavelBure_10, and some bad french Dman x_Elite_76x. Their team is obviously better then before with the new players, we will just have to wait and see if it turns into more wins.

Weekly Recap

As a fan of ducks I happen to know a lot about slipping and sliding... and so do a few teams after this week in khl. Some teams had slightly more difficult schedules than others but we are seeing more contenders emerge and start to squeak their way into the mix and some of the expected top teams have slid down a weee bit as well.

The most worthy of mention, having a solid record this week would be Red Bull Munchen going 8-0 which puts them at 14-2-0 for the season so far. I would say only two tough opponents and the rest of the week was a pretty easy schedule but still impressive. The next two sneaky squeakers would include Boleslav and HC Ocelari. Boleslav going 6-2 gets them a solid foot in the door to continue competing the rest of the season. Same goes for HC OCealari with a slightly more dominant week at 7-1.
The Blues continue to be consistent with wins going 7-0-1 this week shutting down most anybody heading there way or at worst a single ot loss.

More on the slipping note would be Karlstad still with an overall decent record but went 4-4 this week facing some tough opponents. Same goes for the Ilves who ended up with only 2 wins and 6 losses this week and puts their overall record a little questionable and in need of fixing.
Next week will be a big week for teams to show where they are at and where they want to end up. There has been a lot of "moves" before the season start, and during. Next week should leave no excuses for most teams lineups as far as chemistry goes. Still a decent while for the season to end so no predictions from me this week, we'll wait and see how teams come out of a mixed and matched 3 weeks of play.

PS
I know my first week recap had a lot of stats you could just look up yourself but hey there's not a whole lot going on week 1, and my predictions are just my opinion, also they are not solely based on stats alone. Cause that would just be silly.. But feel free to comment on what you may want to hear from weekly recaps in the future aside from all the other various media team news. And don't forget to rub your duck!

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 2

FORWARDS:

DRAW: jeff0012 / ACEFIVE - Espoo Blues

Linemates and falsely reported rivals, Jeff and Acey are showing the league exactly what putting two top players on the same line means. What does that mean, you ask? It means nearly identical points totals, each with 33 points in 8 games (Jeff: 15 -18 -33 / Acey: 18 - 15 - 33) and each with an identical 4.13 PPG average. This is the second consecutive week that Jeff gets the POTW nod and I imagine this won’t be the last for him and/or Acey.

Honourable Mentions:

Nifttee - (10 - 16 - 26 I 3.25 PPG/8 GP) -  Teschen Silesia HC Oceláři Třinec
XILO_ATOMIK - (15 - 11 - 26 I 3.25 PPG/8 GP) -  Teschen Silesia HC Oceláři Třinec
JEWOFCANADA - (5 - 17 - 22 I 2.75 PPG/8GP) - Karlstad Farjestad BK

DEFENSE:

Isles_Tavares_91 - Munich EHC Red Bull München

At the risk of being redundant, I have to give this one to Socca again. Sorry boys but feel free to step up your game if you feel like usurping him. Socca dressed for all 8 games this week, picking up 2 Goals and 15 Assist for 17 Points on the week, finishing up with a 2.13 PPG (highest by a large margin for d-men) and Plus-22. All the while, no less, only taking 4:00 PIMS. On a more personal note, I would really like to take Socca’s dick out of my mouth, so open call to all d-men to step it up next week.

Honourable Mentions:

CodyMcCormick8 - (1 - 12 - 13 I 1.63 PPG/8 GP) - Växjö Lakers
cptnamrica - (2 - 9 - 11 I 1.57 PPG/7 GP) - Cologne Kölner Haie

GOALTENDING:

Xx1DR_SWAGGER1xX - Mladá Boleslav Bruslařský Klub

It might have taken a week but Boleslav seems to have finally found their footing and Swag’s play has been front and centre. Week 2 saw Swag post 8 Starts and rack up 6 W’s, including one shutout in the process. Swag finished up Week 2 with a 2.20 GAA and a .783 SV%. This is Swag’s first POTW nod for the season.

NB (Nifttee in particular) - Before you say JC got snubbed, the difference was the GP and the SO.

Honourable Mentions:

JCEB85 -  (6 GP / 6 W / 0 L / 2.17 GAA / .806 sv%) -  Teschen Silesia HC Oceláři Třinec

at
Örnsköldsvik MODO Hockey 7-7
Team MODO and HPK (the hippkees or happy pumpkins) face off tonight in what could be a battle for the 4th spot in the West. HPK is doing better than some had predicted and XSBUCKS team is a legitimate challenger. Pallokerho 's game two opponent, Goalie and owner T-Man. had nothing but nice things to say about XSBUCKS and HPK, “, In our one game this season they have played us tough. They have many tools to be a top team, and bucks has assembled a much better squad than last season. But they don't have MO FO SHO DO on their side. #TrashSquad”

Owner XSBUCKS was not so kind in his comment about MODO, “we are gonna shut down GINO the way he shut down our preseason... while he was on our team.” But then bucs  added, “when you have mutual respect, it brings a great rivalry.”

Modo won the first match-up and destroyed on time of attack 9 minutes to 4 but it was only a one goal game, 3 to 2. Everything else looked even, on stats in that matchup, but HPK Center JCFalcon had the edge on face-offs 13-5. JCFalcon had a goal and an assist in that game as did team Owner XSBUCKSX. Left Winger Sinneront “King Kong” added an assist verse his former PHL teammate GINO.

For MODO “Thy Great” GINO also had a goal and assist in that first game, the victory against HPK. On a side note, I actually helped name, GINO, in Season 8. The guy was slumping for a couple weeks, like the real life Evgeni Malkin was at the time, but like the real life Geno, they were doing good defensively and stuff, so I kept playing him. In fact we had a long chat where I told him that I will not be benched him, that I will continue to play him, and like Evgeni Malkin, he will snap out of his slump. As a result we ended up first place for weeks of the season and Mespoistio12 (GINO) he ended up top 10 in scoring along with MODO Center, and then Checker, Deadlykush. Because of those two I am the AHL All time leader in points with 83. Those two are good team mates.

Never the less in this KHL season, the affable GINO is 5th in the league in goals scored and 7th overall in points. Playing most of the games at center for Omskoldsvik is DeadlyKush, who is winning a respectable 55% of face-offs and averaging just under 2 ppg. They, Team MODO have Dankchank as Captain this year. He is not like a captain though, more of a father figure to the guys. Captain “daddy” dankchank should help settle down the kids over the long haul. They also have YUCKO the clown to entertain the children. #19 In the League at Defense is Atreyal who went for 7 million dollars. Ironically Lemiuex_Polamalu is #18, one ahead but at .500 he is, of the two, by far the over paid player. TMAN of course is in net for MODO and is 6-4 on the season allowing a respectable 2.50 goals against. And dont forget the King...”King Sempy” was added to the roster so the lack of passing should increase. Look for captain daddy to issue some spankings.

Tonight MODO will be ragging and forcing against HPK. Hämeenlinna Pallokerho Goalie could have his hands full or seats booked tonight. flight-airline is allowing in 3.78 goals a game and would like to see that number come down with a safe landing. High_Voltage is the backup in HPK and actually has a slightly better 2.80 goals allowed average. XSBUCKS is a good owner and a very nice guy. They have a great player in JCFalcon. Sinneront has scoring touch, when he passes wisely, he is dangerous, but he gets into a rush mode and it kills the team. Defman is a good fwd too. He is an all around team player, who back-checks hard and looks to pass first when he gains the offensive zone, also has scoring touch and leads HPK with 2.33 ppg. CrazyMArchese also has some skills at fwd and is adjusting to 6v6 play.  Ill say this too, HPK has improved dramatically since they last played team MODO. They got thegdawg who did not pay the first game and can be a game changer on defense. I played with Donkey and he is a solid Left Defenseman, and a good fwd. He sometimes may get too offensive but with thedawg covering his tail, that shouldn’t be a problem. HPK also plays smart and was great defensively, particularity when I played for them.

Sorry a little long winded on this one, but I know both teams better than usual. Anyway Its tough to predict and who ever I pick will lose anyway, so I am going with MODO to win. Nobody can stop Thy Great Gino.

#TrashSquad wins 8-1.

Its all in good fun love you all.

L_P 2-6 in predictions.

Tampereen Ilves 9-3
at
Munich EHC Red Bull München 10-2

The Red Bulls are clicking on all cylinders. Scoring thirteen goals in their last two games combined and dismantling team Modo 7-2 in their last game played. MaX_BeAst_Max is third in the league in scoring with 39 points. They are also playing well defensively only allowing less than three goals per game in their own net. Isles_Tavares_91 leads all defenders in points and is also second in plus minus in the league. Alchy-Ops is playing well and brings in a 2.58 Goals against average with DR_SG spelling him in net and is 2-0.

Tampereen has been turning some heads this season and is an unexpected surprise so far, middle of week two. Captain x4_Krejci_6x , next to Pinguini's bubba67, is looking like this years steal of the bidding, going for .500 but leading the league in net. He is allowing under three goals per game in net, which is enough to have the Ilves 9-3 and second place in the Western Conference. They are playing well together as a team.

I bet against the Ilves twice this season and I wont bet against them a third time. Im looking for The Ilves to pull off a victory.

Tampereen 3-2

L_P 2-5 in predictions.

(#3) Karlstad 7-2-1 vs (#2)Espoo Blues 7-2-1

Karlstad lost yesterday versus JSIlvers and Hale 6-4 and also lost game two , yesterday, versus the Red Bulls dropping them to 7-2-1 and sliding a tiny bit into tonight game of the week. The loveable JewOFCANADA takes his band of merry men tonight to Espoo, Finland, at the Barona Arena . After two straight losses how will the team react? Karl Winger Mesmerize was asked this question and replied, “after dropping 2 straight games farjestad sucks dick”. He also suggested they felt to cocky after a 7-0-1 start. So which team will show up tonight? The team that went 7-0-1 week one or the team that started out week two 0-2-0?

Raz-Orr will be “bringing the pain” with BringThePain on the roster. zimDman is starting most games at goalie and is 5th in the league in wins. Spelling him in net is Leblanc_ and BringthePain who is 1-0 and had a shut out against my club, LLF, the other day.
Karl still leads the league in goals but Espoo is not far behind , 4th in goals scored. Also defensively Karl is still leading the league in lowest goals allowed, but Espoo again is not far behind at #2. Both teams are also top in the league in Penalty killing and in Face-offs, making this today’s easy top match-up. Jeff00000012 and ACEFive are #1 & #2 in the VG scoring race and will be out to prove they are the real deals.

I am gonna give the edge to Espoo tonight to pull off the victory.

Espoo 5-3

L_P Predictions 1-5

Cologne Kölner Haie 5-2-1
at
Karlstad Farjestad BK 7-0-1

JSILVERS and XXMadMax94xX take their big shark to Sweden to swim in JEWOFCANADA and ENCELADUS-STRIKEs waters.  Other GM's backed off and surrendered Mesmerize to JEWOFCANADA early and that allowed him to really stack his team this season. Karlstad's E-Strike is 4th in scoring and 2nd in points per game behind league leader Nifftee. With him in the top 10 are teammates Mesmerize and PolynomC – throw in Ic3d_Prof3cy and Karl is downright deadly on offense. Karlstad Farjestad is also number one in the league on face-offs. But Karlstad is also solid defensively as a team. They are #1 in goals for and goals against and the result is undefeated in regulation after week one. Their Penalty Kill is also number one in the league. BigLamb420 is the leagues own Marc Andre Fleury, leading in shut outs, and more power to him to keep it going. BigLamb420 was my team mate briefly in S8 and is a good guy to have on your roster. x4_Krejci_6x is the league leader at 7-1 but lamb leads with four shutouts.

The Beatles George Harrison's favorite player Hare-Krishna- is no slacker at offense either. Cologne Kolner Hale forward in 6th in points per game. He has solid team mates like REPS_71 to pass too but REPS Is a past first player who likes to do the dishing. REPS leads the team in assists and is 6th in the league in assists. I played a lot of camps with RubMyDuck and think he is a good center and good team mate. M_u_r_p_h_y_87 is a solid D man as is Captamerica. Scoutz15 seems to be doing well at Goalie and splitting time with Chigiribow who fills in adequately.

I think Karl is gonna stay undefeated after game one. They are too good defensively as a full team and will dominate in the face-off circle.
Karlstad over Hale 5 -3

1-3 in Predictions. Remind me not to bet against the Ilves again!

Kharlamov Conference

1. Karlstad Farjestad BK (7-0-1) - Farjestad on opening night dominates Boleslav 7-0 and gets another 3-0 win over Turku Turun Palloseura getting off to 2 division wins right away Farjestad has yet to lose in regulation, they suffered a 3-2 OT loss against Tampereen. Farjestad has pretty much dominated every team this week, they have the most GF 38 and the least GA 9, Combination of good defense and a high powered offense can be deadly. If they keep playing this way i don't think there is any team who can beat them, this of course this is just 1 week into the season. With Mesmerize leading the league in goals (16) Enceladus-Strike leading the league in assists (18) this can be a deadly combo all season. Not to mention Biglamb put up 4 shutouts in 6 games with a staggering 0.66 GAA and .923%, Then you have Djones on the backend having a breakout season offensively and holding it down defensively next to Pry-Marshall.

2. Tampereen llves (7-1-0) - Tampereen starts off the season suffering a loss to Turku Turun Palloseura 4-1, Tampereen turned it around quick as that would be their only loss the rest of the week. They had 3 OT games this week pulling out wins in all of them, Could luck be on their side or are they just pulling out with the wins? Their goalie Krecji had a 7-1 week with 2.49 GAA and a decent .774%, True-_Hype put up the best numbers on the team with 6gp 11g 7a 18pts, Hardik88 known as one of the top Dmen in VGHL put up 8 assists this week. This team had a solid first week and i expect them to be battling for the division with Farjestad all season.

3. Espoo Blues (6-2-0)- The Espoo blues won the cup last season in the KHL, They get off to a strong first week going 6-2 led by GM and starting RD Raz-Orr, Their 2 losses came against Teschen 6-2 and Farjestad BK 4-1. Jeff0012 leads the league in points after the first week 8gp 8g 16a 24pts, Everyone knows Jeff is a top player in this league and he is a threat every time you face this team. He also has AceFive on RW who put up 12g 9a 21pts, The Blues will be one of the tougher teams to face this season with Jeff and Acefive carrying the load on offense.

4. Teschen Silesia HC Ocelari Trinec (4-3-1) - Teschen led by GM Nifttee, They start off the opening night losing the first game in OT 2-1 against Leksands, They bounce back and get a win 6-2 against the Espoo Blues. Nifttee carries the load on offense this week 6gp 8g 15a 23pts, Xilo_Atomik who has a nice baguette puts up some good numbers this week also 8gp 11g 9a 20pts. Overall this team had a solid first week coming out with a winning record, I'm sure as the season goes on they will improve, its hard to judge a team after one week.

5. Mlada Boleslav Bruslarsky Klub (3-3-2) - Boleslav started out the season getting blown out in a 7-0 game against Farjestad BK, It seems this team got blown out a few times this week 6-1 against Geneva Geneve and another 6-0 loss against Farjestad BK. I can say i am sort of shocked this team did this bad this first week, With Get_On_Ur_Knees and Coorsi88 i thought this team would have been one of the better teams. They pulled out a couple wins this week, going forward all they can do is forget about this week and win next week. I think Dalton needs to figure out who is playing what position on the team and stick with it. There seemed to be lots of different line changes throughout the week trying to figure out which line will work best.

6.  Leksands Idrottsforening (3-4-1) - Leksands led by GM Chaskin12 had a pretty rough week for what looks like to be a somewhat solid team, He traded away Snipe_Snipe_420 which to me was more of a cap dump cause they didn't get much in return for him. Leksands probably plans to land some of the upcoming FAs added to bidding on Sunday to improve their team in the areas they need, otherwise why would you hold 10 mil in cap? I'm sure this team will have a better 2nd week with the addition of some new players.

7. Turku Turun Palloseura (1-6-1) - Turku Turun has a pretty terrible week only winning one game and getting a point in a OT loss, with 8 mil spent on captain Lefty-Heat and 9 mil invested in jdheagle, They are not performing how people expected them to. Maybe they just suck without Class or Jeff next to them, My guess is they lost a few games and started crying and refuse to show up and want to be traded to a different team, That is usually what happens when you have a 15 year old on your team. Hopefully Braaaasssss can turn things around quick, otherwise this could be a long season for him.

8. Geneva Geneve-Servette HC (1-7-0) Chitown made the cup last season, this season his team looks horrible on paper and they look horrible on the ice, Not sure if anything good can be said about this team at this point, Jonfitzsimmons a baseball player and a elite YouTube streamer has got shit on all week in net, None of it his fault, One game against Teschen they got out-shot 32-0 and lost 9-0. You have to be pretty damn bad to not even get one single shot in a game.  Mudd_Flaps went for 12.5mil in bidding primary is RW. So Chitown being the elite GM he is plays him at LW, Chitown needs to make some moves otherwise he can just consider this season a failure.

Tretiak Conference

1. Linkopings Linkopings HC (6-1-1) - Linkopings led by GM Nova1739 have a great week losing only one game in regulation against HPK at the end of the week in a 6-1 loss. I am sure they have shook that loss on and will move on to winning more games next week. Riseoftheninja is the standout forward on this team for this week with 8gp 10g 11a 21pts, Followed by teammate Nova who had numbers close to his 8gp 10g 6a 16pts, westside_hockey9 and jeiel9876 seem to be splitting the games in net, Both doing a decent job, It seems G and RD are up for grabs on this team to find a starter at each position, unless splitting games is what they plan to do for the season.

2. Munich EHC Red Bull Munchen (6-2-0) - Red Bull led by GM Linde94 have a solid week only losing 2 games in regulation 6-5 loss against the Freezers and 4-3 loss against Linkopings HC. Max_Beast_Max is the standout player on offense for this team 7gp 13g 10a 23pts, GreekElite also had a great week with 8gp 5g 17a 22pts, Cant forget about Isles_Tavares_91 aka Soccaplaya who led all Dmen in points this week 8gp 6g 9a 15pts, Red Bull will be one of the top teams in this conference all season long. It seems Isles_Tavares_91 is going for the KHL version of the Norris.

3. Cologne Kolner Haie (5-2-1) - Kolner led by GM Jsilvers have a good first week, They did better then i expected them to do, I know i said this team would struggle this season. They proved me wrong for the first week of the season. REPS_71 is the top point guy on this team for week one 6gp 4g 13a 17pts, Hare-Krishna helped the team with scoring, getting 10 goals in 4 games. Jsilvers is giving some help on the back end with 8gp 1g 10a 11pts, Which is currently 3rd in points for Dmen.

4. Vaxjo Lakers (4-3-1) - Vaxjo led by GM Do_The_Evolution have decent week, I feel they are probably a better team then what the record shows, its only one week and i'm sure they will improve in the coming weeks. They lose a few close games and they also got blown out by MODO 7-1, with no surprise Class_Act_27 is the point leader for this team 6gp 11g 10a 21pts, CodyMcCormick8 getting 8 assists on LD which is a good start to the week for him. lAl_Captain_lAl has a pretty bad week in net 2W 4L 3.35 GAA .700%. The Lakers will need better goaltending out of him if they are going to win more games.

5. Hameenlinna Pallokerho (4-4-0) HPK led by GM XSBucks have a good week considering how his team did last season 4-4 is a pretty good start,  XSBucks already almost has more wins then last season. There is no real standout on offense for this team it seems everyone chipped in a little bit here and there. HPK is still not close to a playoff team, They ended the week with a nice 6-1 blowout win over Linkopings HC which should boost this teams confidence going forward. Some moves will have to be made in order to get some kind of offensive presence on HPK.

6. MODO Hockey (4-4-0) - MODO led by GM T-Man-13-RHP have a .500 week which might be a let down to them considering how well T-Mans team did last season. l-Gino71-l is the standout offensive player for MODO this week with 6gp 11g 7a 18pts, He was traded from HPK to MODO before the season had start. T-Man goes 3-1 with 2.05 GAA .787, Putting up some good numbers to help his team get some wins this week. I am sure MODO will have a better 2nd week, they wont be down in the 6th spot all season.

7. Krefeld Pinguine (2-6-0) - Krefeld led by GM PNCPark2k1 had a week i think most expected out of them, they don't look very strong on paper and it shows they are not playing very strong in the first week of the season. There seems to be a lack of offense and defense on this team as they have been scoring 1-2 goals a game on average and giving up around 4 goals a game. I know its only one week, but if some moves are not made to improve this team they will remain at the bottom of the conference. Krefeld ended the week with a 3-2 win over MODO, that is a positive the team can go off into next week.

8. Hamburg Freezers (1-6-1) - Hamburg led by GM Rich2k8 dont have a very strong week, SMOKESHOWJOE is the standout upfront for this team 8gp 7g 11a 18pts, The only other positive for this team is that they acquired snipe_snipe_420 in a trade. Hopefully he can provide some help to SMOKESHOWJOE upfront, This team lacks a suitable D partner for Foreign_Object and the goalie situation looks pretty weak. Only time will tell if some changes are made to this team or not.

Offensive Player of the Week:

jeff0012 - Espoo Blues

Closing out week 1 with a bang, Jeff collects 8 Goals (5 Even Strength, 2 PP Goals and 1 SHG) and 16 Assists, appearing in all 8 games racking up a total of 24 Points. Jeff finished the week a Plus 11, going 60% in the circle and is tied for the league lead in Game Winning Goals with 3.

Honourable Mentions:

ENCELADUS-STRIKE - Karlstad Farjestad BK
Mesmerize-_- - Karlstad Farjestad BK
XILO_ATOMIK - Teschen Silesia HC Oceláři Třinec

Defensive Player of the Week:

Isles_Tavares_91 - Munich EHC Red Bull München

Week 1 and Socca is doing what he does best: making other teams regret not spending the cap on him and probably making goalies look foolish when we scores from his own blue line. Socca leads all D-men with 15 Points in 8 games, finishing the week a Plus 7. 3 of his 6 Goals came on the Power-Play and 3 of 6 were also Game Winning Goals, putting him tied for 1st in that category with Jeff.

Honourable Mentions:

DJ-WKU-68-_- - Karlstad Farjestad BK
atreyal - Örnsköldsvik MODO Hockey

Goaltender of the Week

biglamb420 - Karlstad Farjestad BK

In an unprecedented start for the league, Lamb posted a .923 sv% with a 0.66 GAA, winning 5 of his 6 starts this week, 4 out of 5 W's were shutties… if that's not some kind of record then I don't know what is. There's nothing else to say about this because I'm actually speechless.

Honourable Mentions:
biglamb420 - Karlstad Farjestad BK
biglamb420 - Karlstad Farjestad BK

He had 4 SO's in 6 games, no one else matters.

Weekly Recap Week 1

So before week 1 we've seen a few preseason scrimmages and a lot of action in the trade department. Theirs a lot of new faces being experimented with and it appears as though owners are hitting the panic button and it may not even be related.. well not yet anyways.

Here is a little exclusive on the first night, just to see how things turn out later and to keep an eye on how it all began. First game night a few teams (some unexpectedly) came out firing with two wins including Linkopings, Leksands, Karlstad Farjestad, Cologne Kolner Haie, and Red Bull Munchen. Karlstad Farjestad having the most impressive start by leading in Goals For and least Goals against with a grand total of 0. Pretty damn good start. Obviously not everything will play out in the long run as one game night has shown but another worth mentioning would be mesmerize racking up 7 goals and 2 assists in just the first two games.

A little slacking or rough start for Pinguines, Freezers, and Geneva all having the two losses in a row. Its gotta happen to some though. A sign of things to come for some teams but others will bounce back. Also worth mentioning although going 0-1-1 Boleslav racked up most goals against. But this is all just game night #1 summary so far ...so back to the weekly recap

To sum up week 1
(top 5 in order)

First the positives:

Team Points- Karlstad(15), Tampereen(14), Linkopings(13), Red Bull(12), Blues(12)
Team GF- Karlstad(38), Tampereen(30), Kolner(30), HC Oceláři(28), Blues(29)

Top Player Goals- Mesmerize(16), Maxbeast(13), Acefive(12) and all having 11 goals would include classact, xilo, gino, and true hype

Top Player Assists- Enceladus(18), Greekelite(17), Jeff00(16), niftee(15), Jewofcanada(14)

Top Player Points- Jeff00(24), Maxbeast(23), Niftee(23), Enceladus(22), and tied with 21 pts are Acefive and Xilo

Now the negatives:
(bottom 5 in reverse order)

Team Pts- Geneva(2), Freezers(3), Turku(3), Pinguines(4), Leksands(7)

Team GA- Geneva(36), Freezers(35), Pinguines(33), Turku(32), Boleslav(27)

Diff- Geneva(-23), Turku(-17), Pinguine(-14), Freezers(-10), Leksand(-10)

Seems pretty obvious but it looks like Karlstad and the Tampereen Ilves will be the top two in the long run which will very interesting to see play out because they are in the same division which will lead to a lot of competition for playoff pts/spots. Linkopings id say are also looking like a top 3 team.

Geneva, Freezers and Pinguines are not looking the greatest and are just in my opinion bottom 3 for the long run but many things can change and we will have to wait and see.

Don't forget to RubYourDuck... mine first though. Peace!

Thursday's GOTN

Game of the day

L_P Here!

Teschen Silesia HC Oceláři Třinec 4-1-1  vs  Tampereen-Ilves 5-1,

Chewbacca, with some help from Luke Skywalker, used the force last night, helping Tampeeen to win both their games and in game two, last night, upset Karlstad in overtime. Karlstad is still undefeated in regulation. Tonight “Chewy” drives the 'Millennium Falcon' into the Poland/Czech Border for a serious hockey match.  Teschen Silesia HC Oceláři Třinec , or lets call them, “TS HOT”, is owned by Niftee previously known as Rain. I guess people change their names to sneak onto teams and play with their friends, but in this case , we all know Nifftee is Rain(insert hyphens and x's at your convenience). Rain (AJ NIfftee) has a host of talent with him this season including my PHL Team mates the talented Xilo-Atomik and the controversial Balaia (who was my #1 pick overall in PHL). I was also impressed with OneShiftatAtime, in scouting camps. People change their names so often its tough to keep track if they are newbs or guys with changed names, but he was good. Before anyone complains about name changers you can go look at the name change list if you want - as  it is public. In any case TS HOT brings a 4-1-1 record to the game tonight.  Gino (mespostio12) is the goal leader, because we all know he seldom passes but right there with him is Silesia's Xilo_Atomic and Nifftee at #4 and #5 respectively. Nifftee who does pass, and very well, is the league pts leader with 23. Nifftee is #2 in assists(15) behind Greekelite(16).  Teschen Silesia is in fact HOT. They dismantled Geneva last night 9-0. Xilo Atomic had a whopping SIX goals and three assists as they allowed ZERO shots in the game? I am guessing ChiTown blew a top after that 9-0 shutout loss. that’s what happens when you field a team of highly skilled non passers, muddflapps excluded. Apparently TS-HOT allowed “King Sempy” and Chitown to get ZERO shots in that game? Or they raged out and didn't enter stats. LoL

Tonight Niftee Xilo and the Polish/Czech Administration face the red hot Tampereen Ilves and their Chewbacca looking mascot.
Both teams are playing well. The Ilves are solid, as I said yesterday. They have good Defense and they get the puck deep. The Ilves won last night over Turku Turun doubling their time on attack and score 6-3. They get the puck low and get the cycle going, generating 7 power plays in that win. u_1_2_B_me_  had three points and is making a name for himself around the league. They are winning time of possession in almost every game.

This is a difficult game to predict, and I do not want to bet against Chewbacca twice but I am going with my PHL team mates to pull this one out.

TS-HOT win in over time 4-3

Lemiuex_Polamalu 1-2 in predictions

Wednesday's Game of the Night

Game of the Day

L_P Here!

Karlstad Farjestad BK 4-0  vs  Tampereen-Ilves 3-1, otherwise known as Karl vs Chewbacca, square off tonight in VG game Of the Day Wednesday. They seem to have a two line system going and, four games in, its working. Whether Captain and lovely human being, JewofCanada at Center brings 'Legends Long Foretolds' own PolynomC and Ic3d_Prof3cy at wing or he brings VG point per game leader Mesmerize (9 points in two games) and ENCELADUS-STRIKE to the party Karl is a tough team to play against and their 4-0 record shows it.  Note -Gino is leading the league with 10 points scoring in four games, and you wonder why HPK would trade a fwd of that caliber, when teams are clamoring to get them(perhaps a pain in the locker room?) but Mesmerize is the PPG leader. BigLamb420, who my team assistant traded in a bonehead move  in s8, (thanks deadlykush -_-) is proving he is a VG Quality net minder. In fact BigLamb is a perfect 4-0 in net with not on or two but three shutouts, including a 7-0 win game 1. Maybe BigLamb will change his name to Marc-Andre Fleury , who leads NHL with 8 shutouts, if he keeps this up?

Tonight the undefeated Karl match up against their divisional Rival Tamereen Ives and their Chewbacca looking mascot. Tampereen's games have been close with game 2 taking until OT to win and game 3 won 3-2. The Ilves have won time of possession in every single game and can not be taken lightly. They are getting the puck low and able to keep it in the zone. Hardik is solid left defense and BigMummy at RD is one of the best Right Defense in the game.

x4_Krejci_6x  is in net for Tamereen and has solid 2.75 Goals allowed average. AS long as captaincomeback3 stays on the bench, they are very solid defensively. They are going to need their offense to step things up and play at a high level. TRU3-_HYP3  is carrying the load at Center but they will need guys like topshelfgod and Gallagher to play good as well. When an offensive team meets a defensive team, I usually say defense wins, but in this case Karl, leads the league in goals for and also goals against making them great defensively as well.
I give the edge to Karlstad and expect them to use the force and defeat Chewbacca.

Karlstad 5-2

Lemiuex_Polamalu 1-1 in predictions

Monday's Game of the Night

Game of the Day

L_P Here!

Yesterday Munich pulled off the upset vs the Lakers and made me 0-1 in predictions. Although it took to them to over time to do it. The Red Bulls also won their second game, riding the wave of 6 power plays to go 2-0 to start the season. Sharing the division with Munich is Linköpings Linköpings, who also started out day one winning both games. Linköpings Linköpings beat Modo Hockey and my former team Hämeenlinna Pallokerho. In Net ALCHY-OPS  won both games for Munich and westside_hockey9 won both games in net for Linkopings. Westside has a slight edge in goals against average over Alchy. Linkopings have an impressive roster filled with Nova, Stevo, the well organized Goodfella and of course Rise of the Ninja also RoyalSkills is solid right defense. They are out to prove they are more than just big name players but a solid TEAM. Munich is also solid, with Linde and Greek leading the way, but throw left Winger Woogie in the mix with Dona_tello and on course the real deal Isles_Tavares(SoccaPlaya) at RD and despite winning by virtue of six to one power play chances in game 2, the Red Bulls are downright deadly. Linde finds himself four points behind Mesmerize, who leads the league , after two games, with 9 points. But with only two games played, we will see if the Bulls can keep up their winning ways.

Tonight I am giving the Linkopings the edge. I think Linkopings are a little better on the back-end, overall and Ninja, who had three points versus HPK, will prove too difficult to stop. Lets see if the Bulls can prove me wrong two days in a row.

Linkopings Win
3-2

Lemieux_Polamalu 0-1 in predictions.

Sunday's Game of the Night

Hi, L_P here!

Look for Games of the Day throughout the season and as standings become clear, the Game of the Week will be more relevant.

When Greekelite and ClassAct clash in VG action, it calls for the game of the week and Sundays game of the day. GreekElite has some of the best skating in the league, with Munich Owner Linde on the other wing they will be bringing the heat. Munich Captain Isles_Taveres is arguably one of the best Defensive players in the league but will need his D Partner to step up as well as their Goalie. They do not have a big money goalie on the roster. The Red Bulls have their hands full because the Lakers should be a fast puck moving team. The Real Shit about Vaxjo Lakers winger, ClassAct, is that he is the ultimate team player. Attitude aside, the guy spreads the puck around to all his team mates and passes to the defense on regular basis. This is what seperates him from the pack. Class has CodyMcCormick, a solid Dman and the teams Captain to drop it back to. Lakers Owner DO_THE_EVOLUTION put together a solid roster, but the Goalies will have a tough time with the inevitabe Linde and Greek one timers.

I give the edge in this match to the Lakers. Isles_Taveres will make things tough but with lAl_CapTaiN_lAl in net, Cody & Class skating the Lakers should skate away with victory.

Lakers Win
5 - 4

KHL S2 Preview

Written by ii-Amazing-LL & Mesmerize-_-

Kharlamov Conference

Konstantinov Division

Espoo Blues - As of right now in my opinion I believe that the Blues are the strongest team on paper in the Kharlamov conference having Jeff and Ace which could be a good or bad thing they are both better players in the league however I know that they don't like each other very much but if they can pull it together I believe Espoo will be a great team.

Teschen Silesia HC Oceláři Třinec - Nifttee has put together a very good team in my opinion. This season AJ has went with a more defensive approach wasting most his cap on his Defense. He also picked up Prodigy for a lot cheaper than I expected which helped him pull in another forward such as Xilo to give him a great core to work around with.

Leksands Idrottsförening - we have Chaskin's team I know a lot of you are like wow what are you thinking they have a great lineup. In my opinion Chaskin did pick a good team on paper. However they have a player or two that are known for being bipolar at times almost. And have huge ego's so if one person per say were to have a meltdown this team could fall apart completely especially if one of those players are named captain.

Geneva Geneve-Servette HC - ChiTown's team although he has never missed playoffs as a manager or player he may be in tough with this division. He has a great winger to work with in Mudd I just don't see his team being as huge of a threat as last season or previous seasons. Let’s hope VG rookie jonfitzsimmons and his captain dynasty1989 can shut the door on D and in net respectively.

Larionov Division

Turku Turun Palloseura - Bbbbrrrraaaassss comes into this season looking to make a splash in division that is up for grabs. Turun will have a great offense for sure in Lefty and JD however not certain in their Defense. x3_QuickSilver_5 aka AHL-Allstar is going to need to hold the fort down in net, as his D is not going to be much help for him. Let’s hope Bbbbrrrraaaassss can find a dman to help him and his team make it out of this division.

Mlada Boleslav Bruslarsky - Some people coming into the season may have questioned Dalton’s ability to be a GM in this league but after the bidding I'm pretty sure he proved all of his doubters wrong. Dalton picked a very talented team. I've been hearing a lot about this team supposedly being carried by Knees and Swagger but I believe a lot of people have forgotten about Coorsi's capabilities to make plays as well which is why in the long run I see Dalton and Raz-Orr's teams being #1 and #2 in the conference.

Karlstad Farjestad BK - Jew hasn't changed much of his core team from last year however he did get a solid goalie in Lamb and got Strike for very cheap this season which allowed for more cap space to go after more sought after people but used it a lot of it on poly. Poly is a NHL Caliber C but with Jew there, where does he fit? The only question mark is who plays with DJ on D. Hopefully Jew has a trick or two up his sleeve for their D question mark.

Tampereen Ilves - Overall Budz has some decent players but I'm not a 100% sure Domi AKA Phenomenal One AKA Gamerz Skillz can live up to his 6.5 mill salary. However they do have a decent defensive pair between Hardik and Big Mummy. But both Hardik and Mummy are RD’s, and no true LD. That may prove to be an issue. As well x4_Krejci_6x in net could be an issue if his LD situation isn’t addressed. Cait is a good pickup at 1 mil. Hopefully Budz can handle all the ego’s and put a winning product on the ice.

Tretiak Conference

Fedorov Division

Krefeld Pinguine - PNCPark2k1 is a GM who knows most players around the league, so I’m sure going into bidding he knew who he could go after. Spending 7mil on Rejectz_Reaperz and making him his team captain was the first mistake of his KHL season. These two were on the same team in the NHL with the Arizona Coyotes. I thought these guys use to disagree on a lot, we will see if they bump heads this season or not. This team does not look very good with an overpaid Rap Star on RD in My-Glove-Ull-Luv, There were probably better options out there, He will be relied on to carry the load on D as I’m not seeing any worthy LD to mention, toslick is a good buy at 500k, But he has known to be a hot head and rage often. I have heard Bubba67 is a solid player, with this teams current roster I would expect them to struggle and miss the playoffs.

Hameenlinna Pallokerho - XSBucks returns as GM for a 2nd time in the KHL, After being one of the worst teams last season, You would think he would have learned his lesson and bid on actual good players. It looks like XSbucks is in for another losing season. The only player he went out and spent some cap on is DonkeyX at 7mil who is an average Dman at best. He picked up G4ThreepWood for 3mil, He is traded along with l-Gino-71-l to MODO for Goodfella145 and JcFalcon21, Goodfella145 is then traded to Linkopings Linkopings HC for Djones125 and Flight-Airline, He went out and got another goalie, Flight-Airline is decent at best, And with really no kind of good defense in front of him, I will expect him to struggle this season if he stays on this team. XSBucks has traded half his team away before even playing one regular season game. Sounds like me he is hitting the panic button before the season even starts, This will be another long season for HPK, I guess it will take another losing season for XSBucks to learn you need to bid on actual good players, Anything can happen, Best of luck to this team, They are going to need it.

Linkopings HC - Nova1739 returns as GM for a 2nd season in the KHL, After having Jay by his side last season he goes for another playmaker type of player in bidding with RiseOfTheNinja at 9mil, Some forwards went for 9+ mil, Ninja is a good buy at 9 mil for this team, From the looks of it they will have a forward line that consists of RiseOfTheNinja at LW, ii-Amazing-ii at C, With Nova at RW, There will be a lot of dekeing for no reason and forced passes going on with this team. Djones125 was the Dman bid on he was traded away along with Flight-Airline to HPK for Goodfella146 who will be the new starting LD, Not sure who they plan to have be his D partner at RD, No notable RD on the roster right now, This team is pretty solid, I think they lack a good G and RD, This is KHL and you can afford to have holes on ur roster and still be a playoff team.

Modo Hockey - T-Man-13-RHP returns for another season as GM, He seems to have spent most of his cap on 2 starting Dmen, He went out and spent 6 mil on Goodfella146 who likes to rage and cause problems on a team, He was just trade bait as before the season even starts he gets traded to HPK along with JcFalcon21 for l-Gino71-l and G4threepwood, MODO also makes another trade with Leksands, Sending DaSn1pa and Go_So_Sleep_221 for xYuckox. Looks like Yucko is the new starting LD on MODO. Besides the trades MODO landed a solid player in deadlykush204 for 2.5mil, Also Come-_-At-_-Me-_ aka Jor2Good is a solid pickup for 500k, G4 is a solid pickup in the trade who can provide backup G duties and from what I hear is pretty decent at RD.

Makarov Division

Cologne Kolner Haie - Jsilvers a veteran GM of the VGHL, Seems to do it season after season and just bid on bad players, Reason why he was one of the worst teams 2 seasons in a row in VGNHL. He makes XxMadMax94xX his captain, He has played for Jsilvers for about 3 seasons now, He spends most of his time sitting at center ice cherry-picking, He gets Hare-Krishna for 8.5mil, Krishna is a solid player, But with nobody around him who knows how to play, I expect him to get frustrated. Jsilvers gets REPS_71 for 6.5mil who is just an average forward, He’s putting his faith in Chigiribow a goalie who can’t stop talking about his AHL past in the chat, I expect he will get lit up with no D in front of him.

Hamburg Freezers - Rich2k8 went into bidding probably knowing he was going to bid on some of his fellow MID club members, SMOKESHOWJOE is a great guy but 6.5mil seems like a high price for him. He gets Foreign_Object for a whopping 8mil and the Thegdawg34 at 6.5mil, not sure who the 3rd forward on this team will be. My guess is StickyFingers604, The goaltending on this team doesn’t look very strong with tabbs85 and Zamboni_Driver, and this team might have some success due to playing in the same club with each other every night.

Munich EHC Red Bull Munchen - Linde94, This team looks to be the other half of MID, Linde goes all out to get his club mate and all around great guy Isles_Tavares_91 aka Soccaplaya for 10 mil, He also throws the cash at the most electrifying RW in the game as he calls himself GreekElite for 12.5mil, Other than Linde, Socca and Greek this team doesn’t have much, I see no worthy G or RD, Hopefully those 3 players can carry the load all season otherwise the struggle will be real.

Vaxjo Lakers - Do_The_Evolution went into bidding with eyes on one guy Class_Act_27 for 12.5mil hoping he can carry the load this season like he’s expected to every season at a high price. His captain is CodyMcCormick8 aka the Girl Kisser, This team seems to be one of the better teams in the league, the only holes that I really see is at RD and G, Who will play RD next to the guy who loves girls Cody? There also seems to be a bunch of RWs on the roster, so no telling who the starting RW will be. Not sure if Evo is going to play C or RD this season, but he can play either, He has some options to work with, this team will most likely be in the playoffs, unless for some reason they turn out to be bad and struggle.

INTERVIEW WITH Raz-Orr, ESPOO BLUES OWNER, KHL SEASON 1 CHAMPIONS

NEWS TEAM: Hi Raz-Orr, first of all congratulations on your success in KHL Season 1 and for taking home the championship.

Raz-Orr: Thank you very much, guys. I’m proud of my players. They were all committed from the start of the season to this which made my job easy.

NT: You’ve been part of team management for a long time now, most recently as the Albany Devils Captain. How was this different from running a team in a typical VGHL season?

RO: Well I think the biggest difference was the calibre of players that were available for me to bid on. Some of the top players in the game for sure. The challenge was finding a supporting cast to surround them with through the season. A good mix of proven players and up and comers.

NT: This is the first time Owners were made to start the season with no Captain. What was it like going into the bidding period solo and can you shed some light on your thought process and basic strategy? What was your main priority going in?

RO: Some Owners / Captains surround themselves with friends or fellow club members that they're really familiar with and it works for them. I do this only if there is a toss up between where I have a player graded going into the bidding process. I look into more the players past achievements, especially the players I'm bidding a substantial amount for:

1)GP: I can tell their availability and their commitment level.

2)Points / G / A: I can tell if he/she is a playmaker or scorer. Can't win unless you have a balanced team.

3) PIM / GMP, H, SH, SH%:  All very important. I think a player with high PIM tends to take penalties at the worst time and will cost you games. I shy away from that player. Now if they hit on average 3-5 times a game shoot 2-5 times a game as a forward (not as important for a Dman) and keeps their PIMs down, this tends to be a player that plays both ends of the ice hard.

The most important thing is finding chemistry early in the season, especially in a short season and I was lucky to have a great group of guys that bought into a team game.

NT: You were able to land a number of really high level players. While Ninja and Knees went for salaries that were pretty much on par with their peers, were you surprised to snag Acey for only 4 million?

RO:  LOL Ace, for I don't know what reason is the Rodney Dangerfield of the VG: he never gets the respect. I think that is what fuelled him this season to take his game to the next level. I really could not have asked for a better teammate. He rallied the troops countless times. As far as his salary goes, we all still talk about the steal of the season in our Espoo team chat. We expect him to at least go for 4.5 M this season

NT: What was the regular season like for you and your team? Were you always confident that you would make the playoffs?

RO: We had a lot of fun playing together but that was easy to do when you're winning. I got the sense guys liked playing together and were motivated to win it all early.
I, as most experienced Owners/captains do, had a Skype Team Locker Room set up early before the season and our locker room had a team logo and motto. Of course, since team Espoo is located in Finland, I had to have the team motto in that native tongue. I don't know if the guys have even taken the time to know the meaning but it was:

YKSI TAVOITE YKSI TEHTAVA YSKI MESTARUUS

which means:

ONE GOAL ONE MISSION ONE CHAMPIONSHIP

NT: Players in the league faced a number of lag and connection issues during Season 1. One of your guys, Ninja, was hit particularly hard. How do you replace a guy like that and were you worried at all?

RO: For sure you can’t replace a player like Ninja. He brings so much to the table. He controls the play in the opponent's zone better than anyone I ever played with and yet back-checks with the best of them to help out his D, so it was hard to do but Choban and later Reps did a great job when they had to fill in.

NT: You made a few trades just prior to the deadline. One in particular moved Check and Laydownfool, with Reps and swiftdefeat coming back to the Blues. Those are kind of big names around the league, how did that come together?

RO: Well I was Check's AHL captain so felt bad about having to trade him. He's a number-one LW, a great player and a terrific League guy, so it was not fair to him to be anything else.

Laydown, who I thought until I traded him was a huge key to our team toughness and success, played a lot of LD for us and filled in at C when Knees wasn’t able to play. He asked to play more of a forward role on our team and if not he would like to be traded, so I obliged him. He was missed when he left...

With Reps coming the other way, I knew I had more flexibility. He can play all forward positions and LD, as he played in Minnesota for Chrono and Chitown the season before.

NT: So after the trade deadline, I assume the focus was squarely on the playoffs. What was the goal at that point? Were you trying to win your division or was the priority just locking in one of the four spots?

RO: Honestly the last couple weeks I just wanted to try some different combinations on the backend and at forward just to get as much chemistry as a unit as we could. We all knew we had scoring with Knees, Ace, Ninja but to win it all we had to play solid D and I think we surprised some teams with how stingy we were as a team in our end and a lot of that came from our forwards applying back pressure on opponents. It helped having a terrific TOA every game. Knees especially gave up opportunities for points during the season just to create turnover after turnover in the offensive zone.

NT: Overall, what would you say was the hardest part of the season and what did you do to manage it?

RO: Believe it or not, this was the easiest season to manage of all my PHL, AHL, World Championship teams to date. I can't say enough about the group of guys I had this season. They worked together they helped each other.

NT: So Round 1 of the Playoffs, you draw Nova and SC Bern. They have the two highest scoring players in the league. What was the strategy going into that series and what did you do to contain them?

RO: Yeah, Nova and Jay were a handful for sure. They attacked us with a lot of speed. Our goalies, I thought, played great that series; Dan and Zim really locked it down when they needed to. Our team transition out of the zone was really important to limit their scoring chances and again our time of attack was key to keeping the puck off Nova and Jay's sticks as much as possible.

NT: Round 2, you drew another really strong team with Dank and Linköpings. Dank and Jeff are having a great season together. Swag puts up some crazy numbers in Round 1 vs Modo. What are you thinking going into Round 2?

RO: This team was no problem to get up for. Before the season started, there was a Preseason team analysis by a couple scrubs, Mes and Dalton (LOL), and Linköpings was favoured to win, so guys were really motivated to prove that wrong. Dank put a great team together and all of the games were heated battles, the most challenging series we had. Jeff0012, or who I call "THE BEAST", in my opinion is a top player year after year, a player to build around. We tried not to let him take over by double teaming him in our D zone as much as possible. That was Ninjas best series, he was a huge help to our D. Five games were one-goal games, two of them went to overtime. Goaltending on both sides was rock solid. Swag was posting .893 SA% game in game out, it was like trying to find a hole in a brick wall. It was what playoff hockey should be: INTENSE.

NT: Finally, Round 3. The Final. You draw Chi and EV Zug. The holiday break is over and the series starts. They’re a team that can hurt you in a number of ways if you give them any space. What was the strategy going in?

RO: This series started out with both teams having to chisel the rust off from the holiday break. The first couple of games were a battle of mistakes and penalties but all the emotion that you would expect in the finals. Words and insults were being texted and spoken in the DR, as if both teams were rivalled enemies for the whole season. Meanwhile I don't think each team knew what to expect from each other. In the end, we won handedly, you would think by the scores posted in the last two games. This could have been closer but...LOL wouldn't you all like to know...

I want to congratulate Chitown and his Zug teammates on a great season. Enough said about that..

NT:So the finals were not without controversy... Do you want to talk about that at all or let sleeping dogs lie?

RO: The only thing I would say is this: as VG players, we always owe it to the league, our teammates and ourselves to play with honour during every game. IF you do that we are all winners.

NT: You’re a returning owner for Season 2, should we expect another Blues championship?

RO: YKSI TAVOITE YKSI TEHAVA YKSI MESTARUUS is still up in the locker room and will be there until VGHL season 10 returns. Until then the only Trophy that matters is in Finland so try to come and get it, I dare ya…

VGML Super Bowl 49 will feature the 15-1 San Francisco 49ers vs the 11-5 Kansas City Chiefs lead by owners LordAlex999 (49ers) and Nick108 (Chiefs).

15-1

Key players include:
Colin Kaepernick – 5,464 passing yards.

Vernon Davis – 1,493 receiving yards.

The 49ers made noise in the beginning of the season by trading Anquan Boldin to the Miami Dolphins for Brian Hartline and other assets, and trading Frank Gore to the Falcons for Steven Jackson and assets. Those trades paid dividends for him with Hartline reaching 971 receiving yards and Jackson rushing for 1,348 yards on the season. The 49ers secondary through the season yielded 44 interceptions led by Tramaine Brock with 10. Overall the 49ers are an explosive team in almost every aspect of the game with few soft spots on their roster.

Kansas City Chiefs
11-5

Key players include:
Alex Smith – 2,184 passing yards.
Jamaal Charles – 594 rushing yards.
Derrick Johnson – 75 tackles, and 4 interceptions.

Nick108 took over the struggling 0-5 Kansas City Chiefs in week 6 and never looked back by going undefeated the rest of the way to the Super Bowl.  Kansas City has a combined 1,388 rushing yards between Darius Reynaud and Jamaal Charles. The Chiefs also have 3 players with over 500 receiving yards that include Wes Welker, Dwayne Bowe, and tight end Anthony Fasano. Kansas City is a unique team that wins games in their own way and will provide a great matchup in the Super Bowl.

SEASON 9 STANLEY CUP FINALS PREVIEW
By:Lemieux_Polamalu

Toronto enters the Stanley Cup  Finals having come through the Florida Panthers in seven, defeating Pittsburgh Penguins in seven and sweeping the sixth seed New Jersey Devils. Toronto finished the regular season first in the East with  121 points. Those 121 points make them first overall in the NHL regular season and the VGHL Season 9 Presidents Cup winner. They had 284 goals on the season, which makes them tied for #1 in goals scored, in the east. Defensively they finished the regular season third in the east in goals allowed with 186 giving them a +98 scoring differential. The Maple Leafs are 1-1 against the Ducks in regular season, with a win coming in overtime. Rookie Owner Rich2k has his team ready to play, night in and night out.

Anaheim Enters the Stanley Cup Finals after sweeping the Phoenix Coyotes, beating the St. Louis blues in six games, a series where they trailed 0-2 then won four straight, and then defeated the #3 seed Detroit in six games. Anaheim had an impressive 303 goals scored in the regular season which left them tied with New Jersey, for 2nd in goals scored in the regular season. They allowed 207 regular season goals which was 4th best in the West and left them with a +96 goal differential. The Ducks were 1-0-1 verse the Leafs in the regular season. Rookie Owner Mcleve91 also has his Ducks quacking on all Cylinders as they enter the finals.

The Centers

Toronto dominated time on attack,6 minutes to 4 minutes, in nearly every game versus the Devils and that had a lot to do with a decisive edge in the face off circle. VinnyNorthsyde plays most of the games at Center for the Toronto Maple Leafs, he comes into the Finals with a 60% face-off percentage, which is third in the playoffs. They do not lose much by way of face-offs when they sub in ScrapingUrIce as he is 70% on the draw which makes him #1. But Vinny is their main Center he is fifth in points in the playoffs and finished the regular season with 100 assists, 9th in the league.

The Leafs are playing a Ducks team that also won time on attack in round three, some games they destroyed Detroit time on attack. In the series they were averaging 7:4 and that is verse a good defensive Detroit team. Owner Mcleve takes most of the snaps at center and is just behind the Leafs VinnyNorthSyde in face-off percent with an impressive 59%, they sub in  walllle919  who is also decent on the draw wit 56% face-off in the playoffs. Center Mcleve is seventh in playoff points, third in +/- with +14 and he finished the regular season #7 in points with 193.

The Wingers

Rich2k plays every game RW for the Maple Leafs and he is flanked by LaPlante94 or KryptKeepa. Rich2k accounted for five goals versus the Devils including a game winner in game three.  LaPlante94 is dangerous too, he had a hat trick game one vs NJ and 8 points in 3 games. You cant dismiss Krypt either as his two assists helped bring home a game three victory round three. Rich2k is third in playoff points and he finished the regular season 5th in points with 197 and #1 in +\- with a +90.

Playing wing on the Duck pond are Wingers Xilo_AtomiK and RiseoftheNinja. Right Winger Xilo_atomiK had four hat tricks in round three versus Detroit and a whopping 20 points overall in just 6 games. Left winger RiseoftheNinja had 17 points in round 3. This coming verse a Red Wing team known for defense all year. RiseoftheNinja finished #1 in points in the regular season with 212 and he and Xilo are #1 and #2 in playoff points.

Defense-man
Toronto will be bringing atreyal, Chomper4 and dydy12 to the blue line most games and they don't lose much slack when pgtip's subs in. Chomper had three points in two games versus the Devils including a game winner game 2. Chomper is #2 plus minus in the playoffs with +10 and Atreyal is #3 plus minus  with +9, so they are solid in their own end. Atreyal also and is second in playoff points with 13. Both of them can help out in the offensive zone.  Atreyal finished the regular season number two in +/- with +64( number one was SOCCAPLAYA11 ) with number three in the league in plus minus being Maple Leafe team mate dydy23 . They are all solid on the blue line. The defense can contribute to the offense but are solid in their own end.

While the leafs D-men are #2 and #3 in plus minus it is a mighty Duck djcloudz who is #1 with +12 and also Anaheim Defenseman SteelCityFan17 is not far behind at #4 with +8 in these playoffs. SteelCityFan17 is 6th in points in the playoffs and djcloudz is 7th in playoff points. SteelCityFan17  finished the regular season fourth in plus minus and 3rd in points overall for a defense-man with 75. CRUSTY_BOJANGLES also will play Defense for the Ducks, he finished the regular season +27, 14th in the league. CRUSTY_BOJANGLES Brings the pain, he had fourteen hits verse the Devils in three games in round three and has 20 hits in the playoffs. King-Forrest also plays D for the Ducks and is a dependable veteran. Anaheim has depth on defense, just like Toronto does.

Goalies

Captain DK_Kassicus  is in net for the Leafs and should play every game. He is best when his team limits shots and when they win the shot total for the game, as they did round 3, approximately 50-25 for the round three series. DK is 12-6 in three rounds with 2.20 goals allowed per game and a .807 save percentage. He plays every game in net and finished the regular season third overall. His goals allowed average is 13th in the regular season 2.20. DK had two shutouts versus New Jersey in games two and three.

Heroic_Saunter can also play fwd or defense but took over the Goalie job a little past mid season.  He is #2 in playoff wins behind Toronto's DK_Kassicus. The Ducks goalie Heroic Saunter finished 12th this regular season at 2.15 goals allowed. LordAlex also plays in net for the Ducks. In round three he had a shutout in game 3, a 4-0 Duck win and his 2.15 playoff goals against average, is the best of the goalies remaining.

Summary
Both teams are solid top to bottom.  These Anaheim and Toronto centers are neck and neck in the regular season statistically. Mcleve has 56% face-off and VinnyNorthsyde has 55% face-ff, so its going to be tight, even when rotating in subs. Rich2k plays smart. He is a solid two way player but can also put the puck in net. The Leafs have sick chemistry up front. Mcleve and RiseoftheNinja have been dangerous for opponents all season, now add in XILO-ATOMIK, who also plays smart and they are deadly. This will be a heavyweight fight.
This is a situation where the two best teams are facing off for the Cup. They are close in total playoff goals scored #1 (Ana) and #2(Tor) in the playoffs and also close in playoff goals against #2 (Tor) and #3(Ana).   If you look at the top four Plus Minus Defenseman in the playoffs you'll see Toronto's atreyal and Chomper4 and you will also see Anaheim defenders SteelCityFan17(4) and djcloudz(1).  This game is as evenly matched as they come. They are both close in penalty killing percent and power play scoring. It is tough to give either team the edge with stats.  In my opinion, people have underestimated Toronto all year. The Leafs may be coming in to the final with a chip on their shoulder, still needing something to prove. Anaheim has been flying high all season waddling around the pond with ease, and then they really improved when Xilo arrived and the goalie situation settled. Each team has good smart owners who can adapt the team to the opponent. I think this series is going to go Seven games but I am giving the Ducks the edge. I think the line of RiseoftheNinja, Mcleve, and Xilo will be too much for anybody to stop and the Ducks waddle away from the pond with the Cup.

PREDICTION:
Ducks in Seven
FINALS MVP: XILO-ATOMIK

Season 9 PHL Memorial Cup Final
Article By:BmoreBirds88
Images By:G4

As Season 9 in the PHL comes to a close many VGHL members are anxiously awaiting the Next Gen release on PS4. As exciting as that may be, there are still a few games yet to be played. The PHL will host it's last Championship series on PS3, determining which team will be raising the Memorial Cup for the FINAL time during this beloved era. Season 9 helped solidify the fact that the VGHL, in its entirety, has unmatched depth of competitive, skilled, and driven players when it comes to Virtual Hockey. All season long the PHL has provided upper rank organizations with great players while conducting a fiercely competitive league of its own. Every team battled tremendous adversity during Season 9, yet some fell short as "vacation" started earlier than pre-season dreams had promised. Only two teams are left to finish what each and every team sought to achieve, becoming the FINAL PS3 era VGPHL Memorial Cup Champions.

Two teams, one representing East and the other West, will meet for one last battle; The Memorial Cup. In the West the Edmonton Oil Kings sit atop the "Iron Throne", methodically picking teams apart one by one to reach the final dance. Over on the East, the Belleville Bulls proved they're anything but bulls**t, Bulldozing other Eastern Conference teams that were poised for a championship run. Both teams are considered worthy of hoisting the cherished PHL Cup when the final buzzer sounds but only one will prevail. Working hard all season to gain admission to the big show is certainly admirable, but unfortunately in this league past accomplishments do not determine ones future success. Players associated with both teams have undoubtedly contributed to the success each organization has achieved. Owners & Captains painstakingly held camps, recruited players, and developed talent; all of which are things that should not be overlooked. To briefly delve into each management duo we'll start with the Edmonton Oil Kings front office led by none other; xi-moneyshot-xi and Assisted by Iceman1008.

Edmonton Oil Kings:

The Oil Kings may be led by one of the youngest, if not the youngest, of the VGHL Owners. Other than the fact xi-moneyshot-xi has quite a few less candles on his birthday cake, the difference in age seems to be irrelevant when it comes to management. The Oil Kings were always a formidable opponent this season. No matter what week of the season, every team that faced the Oil Kings knew Money would put 6 quality players on the ice. With clever FA acquisitions and a few in-season trades, Edmonton managed to finish #2 overall in the Western Conference with 80pts. Money and his Captain Iceman look to become the next name inscribed into VGPHL history. This is "Money's-Shot" to prove his value as a young VGHL Manager. Edmonton doesn't need to be in Spain to 'run with the 'Bulls' and clearly the time has come to take the Bull by the horns.

Belleville Bulls:

The Belleville Bulls have been a dominate squad since day one of Season 9. Led by Owner Invictus_Maneo and Captain xUnReaL-Sniipez, the Bulls finished the regular season with 89pts making them the #2 seed in the powerhouse Eastern Conference and also #2 overall in the PHL. The East was not only considered the more dominate Conference but statistically proved to be so. All four Eastern teams that secured a playoff spot ended the season with more points than the Oil Kings, but regular season point totals give no advantage heading into the final series. Belleville flip flopped in and out of 1st place all season and long have been considered a capable Championship contender. Invictus has been a strategic Owner all season. Driven to be the best, this management duo never wavered from the basic foundation upon which they started. Solid team organization paired with a knack to find diamonds in the rough enabled these savvy Managers to subdue the opposition time and time again. Invictus seems to be an defensive savant. While other teams struggled to find, keep, and often times replace top defensive players within their organizations, the Bulls Owner had a keen eye when it came to acquiring top Defensemen. Finding and picking good Defensemen is a difficult task on its own but this organization had an even greater ability to pair the right with the left, solidifying a strong defensive core game after game. Going against an offensive oriented team such as the Oil Kings, Belleville's defensive unit will be put the the ultimate test. The Bulls undoubtedly have the capability to bring a Championship home to Belleville. The task at hand will be anything but easy and will require continued efforts by the Bulls front office to examine, exploit, and execute the proper game plan. As Belleville travels further down Memorial Cup Road there lays one obstacle they must overcome. The Bulls look to dry up any Oil the Kings of Edmonton may have left but the fear of getting bogged down in the sludge is as daunting as ever. Will Belleville's defensive engine seize from the sludge Edmonton's well oiled offensive brings?- only time will tell..

I am sure many of you have heard the famous quote by the late great Bear Bryant; "Offense sells tickets, but defense wins championships". This theory will be put to the test in the Memorial Cup indefinitely. Edmonton Oil Kings Owner xi-moneyshot-xi and his Captain iceman1008 look to prove many haters and possible doubters that great Management doesn't rely solely on age but rather perseverance, determination, and most of all leadership skills. On the other side of the ice, Belleville Owner Invivtus_Maneo9 and Captain xUnReaL-Sniipez hope to live up to expectations. Being considered the "favorite" coming into this Memorial Cup matchup mostly because of regular season success is a tough cross to bear considering the "under dogs" are well prepared and anxious to deliver an upset. The Memorial Cup is about to be underway. The last and final PHL Champion of the PS3 era will be determined after a few hard fought games. Will Belleville remain Bull-headed and claim victory for their organization, or will Edmonton reign supreme by solidifying the Oil King name with the PHL Crown?

Congratulations to both Edmonton and Belleville for all the success you have already accomplished. Play smart, passionate, and be ready to capitalize. You both are about to begin the final great crusade, where victory is the only thing that matters. Rely on your instinct!

Good luck gents.
